I have wondered how much of the success improvement in these techniques is 1. any attempt to run the code and 2. making multiple passes over the same code for any reason.

i went through it quickly so perhaps i missed this, but did you try telling it to audit any of the pbt or other advanced testing approaches to see if they would unwedge themselves and end up in a better place?
