Or, you know, don't build ships out of material that corrodes quickly. Don't make a bespoke gun and then have the manufacturer go bankrupt. Don't go with the lowest bidder on engines or prop shaft seals. I could go on for a while. Acquisitions is pretty messed up.

IMO...from everything this administration has done or not done when it comes to our military and the security of the US, they are purposely weakening the US readiness. Why? And who would benefit from it?

because most of the so-called adminstration are incompetent. trump and kegsbreath and muscovite don't like to have people around them who can easily outshine them. it's gonna take decades to put back experts that have been wrongly sidelineed/fired.

One thing you cannot get away with is deferring maintenance on an oceangoing, working ship. It’s a recipe for disaster (so, pretty much in line with all current GOP policies).

IN EVERY AREA OF GOVERNMENT DESTRUCTION IS UNDERWAY AMERICAN Bureaucracy, an organizational system where laws, rules, and regulatory authority are implemented by non-elected officials and civil servants Institutional knowledge and Protections are gone

Wonder why trump can't get contractors to bid on his projects? From the article: "But when the Navy put out a call in August to a dozen of its contractors for a separate slate of needed repairs, it received zero bids.. "
