Given that Germany is funding a “significant portion” of the Starlink network in Ukraine, I inquired with both the German MoD and the Federal Foreign Office about the current situation with Starlink/Starshield.

A MoD spokesperson only told me that they did not wish to comment on the Ukrainian claims, and would also decline to comment whether they are in touch with the governments in Kyiv and Washington, or with SpaceX, regarding finding a solution to the situation.

How does this relate to the distinction between Starlink and Starshield? Does Germany financially support both? I admit to not knowing this given Starshield is purview of the US military.
