it's actually quite a bit sad that i'm one of the few atproto developers that's openly against generative AI when the company is pushing for stuff like this as part of their main experience do people really just want to type text in an input field instead of learn how to do stuff?

at least in the software development field it feels like a lost battle, every engineer is just treating it as the Next Thing while not considering all other factors around it like... how it's a fascist technology built by fascists for their fascist needs do people just not think anymore?

classmates, my teachers, pros giving presentations, and now (after recently finishing school), my colleagues Close to everyone in the field, it seems. Meanwhile I.. like learning and doing new stuff ? Probably the whole reason I got into computers ? Why would I let go of that ?

depressing update : it was someone's birthday at work Some guy copy-pasted a message from an LLM to wish a happy birthday, but forgot to remove the part were the LLM praised him for his prompt and they're sending AI-generated memes/songs too yeah

final addition to this thread: again, generative AI is a fascist technology made by fascists for their fascist needs they only want to enslave you mentally (by making you dependant) and financially (so you'll always give money to them), there's no "but it's a good thing!" side to it, unfortunately

That would make it come from the same idea as NewSpeak, right? Narrow down the way, that humans communicate with each other. No more poems. No more songs. No more creativity. No more rebellion.

I appreciate you a lot for your anti-genAI stance, and it's why I feel good about recommending deck blue to everybody, besides the fact that it's just a great interface!

that's the thing, they never wanted this kind of users in the first place, we just made our new home here and they can't do much about it

i hope it is a lost battle and that the stupid robots substitute the stupid people who made the stupid robots in the first place, none of you deserve a world that works

and you're right, people don't think anymore, largely because of the efforts of the bosses of those people complaining who never took a stand, if you work for oppenheimer you lose the right to cry when your town gets nuked

They don't. It's new, and shiny, and can look good in very limited ways when it can copy common code. My job keeps trying to force me to use it despite the fact that I have some of the highest ticket throughput without ever touching an LLM.
