this is a big reason ds9 is so important to me, especially in retrospect - just seeing what a loving and present and caring father figure is and can be to their son or daughter let me know what was possible and helped me process what I lacked. It's cliche but my TV dad helped me a lot.

Jake and Ben are genuinely one of the best father and son relationships I've ever seen in ANY medium, not just TV. What an incredible feat--on every level: casting, performance, writing--they are.
