I wrote about why we had so many urban legends trying to explain who Justin Bailey was. At first, I wondered if it was the wrong town for the week before Halloween, but as I got philosophical, I realized this is one of the scariest things I've ever written.

KOTOR was my Star Wars and the entire Mass Effect trilogy meant so much to me while it was coming out. Without them I wouldn't have the relationship to science fiction and storytelling that I have now. DAO though... DAO is a masterpiece. Those characters meant so much to me. RIP.

at a professional level I worked on patch QA for the Mac ports of KOTOR and QA on the DAO console ports. I spent so much time in DAO and still think about it so often, one of very few games I worked on in my industry time I still would enthusiastically play.

One big secret to a worthwhile life is to understand that different people struggle with different things and you get much further by reciprocally teaching what you’re good at than by condescending “girl stop worrying, it’s easy” at people whose struggles are your strengths

this is a big reason ds9 is so important to me, especially in retrospect - just seeing what a loving and present and caring father figure is and can be to their son or daughter let me know what was possible and helped me process what I lacked. It's cliche but my TV dad helped me a lot.

Jake and Ben are genuinely one of the best father and son relationships I've ever seen in ANY medium, not just TV. What an incredible feat--on every level: casting, performance, writing--they are.

I don't think I'd still be here without it but if I somehow made it I definitely would not be as emotionally intelligent.
