It does kinda suck that opinion piece journos frequently fuck up what should be slam dunk article theses. I.e.: 'I used to think [specific work of art] was cringe; then I got over my bullshit' Becomes: 'This lesser form of [Art] can be appreciated by the cognoscenti with this 1 wierd trick'

So deeply embarrassing for the author, but also the Editor who didn’t laugh him out of the building

I want whatever the columnist who thought “The man who wrote ‘The Ballad of Ira Hayes’ and made the video for ‘Hurt’ was deeply square and never countercultural” is smoking.

This was not only spot on, but a wild ride. For instance, I never thought about how a potential sliding glass doors moment for American journalism was if Bari Weiss had decided to just stay and live in Australia...
