Read a post today saying that eventually, software developer employers will include AI tokens in their bonuses. If that happens, I'm throwing all my electronics in the trash and heading to the hills to live as a hermit, where I'll watch civilization self-immolate from a safe distance.

It came up just this weekend, my team mates that were using Claude lost access to the models they were using because Trump got a bug up his nose. I use a local ai coding model for stuff... and by local I mean in my desktop running locally on my gpu with good reason.

I have two computers that can do that, but I limit the amount of even local AI I use. It's way better than becoming dependent on Claude, but only in the same way that methadone is better than using actual meth. I never want to forget the basics of programming, and I swear there are "developers" now-

-who don't know their enums from their interfaces anymore. My challenge for other developers who've become addicted to AI: Create a new project in whatever language you like, but do the scaffolding by hand. I think a lot of them have forgotten that CLIs for scaffolding new projects even exist.
