When all is said and done, the AI scammers and thieves need to see the insides of prison cells. The amount of damage - to the economy, to the environment, and to people's mental health - has been incalculable.

OK, so here's what I don't get: How is the stock market still going up? We've got high unemployment, record debt, and overvalued companies that are clearly riding the AI hype train. Why do people keep shoveling money into stocks like SpaceX in this economy?

Just had someone going by "realpdx" tell me that Tina Kotek's trans-friendly policies result in violence against women and girls. I admit I took pleasure in reporting the account for hate speech.

Three nights in a row of stress dreams. Dreaming about being back in school and forgetting I have a test. About being unemployed. About being picked up by the police. I'm thinking the current state of the world and the economy has me a teensy bit stressed out.

(1/2) What the heck is wrong with the people buying SpaceX stock again? Haven't they learned their lesson? Today's earnings announcement said they earned $7.8 billion in revenue. It exceeded analysts' expectations and sounds like a lot until you realize xAI lost $15.8 billion.

(2/2) Stop investing in them! Their whole goal is to leave you holding the bag for their unprofitable AI business! Serving up LLMs is a very efficient way to set money on fire, and that's all it will ever be. SpaceX, Anthropic, OpenAI... Not ONE of them has a realistic chance at profitability.

Oh look, there's the Friday stock market manipulation.

President Trump says a deal has been reached for Hamas to completely disarm and Israeli forces to withdraw from Gaza. And, the U.S. economy slowed some, but Americans continued to spend. n.pr/4h1FEEO

Here are some random things I just really needed to get off my chest. * The 2020 election wasn't stolen. * Using AI chat bots isn't research. * Speaking of, the bots are harmful economically, environmentally, and psychologically to the people who are addicted to them. (1/3)

* Mamdani is doing a really good job in NYC. Republicans (and establishment Dems) hate that. * Mitch McConnell is either deceased or so thoroughly incapacitated that he's not capable of doing his job. * Sales taxes are regressive. The wealthy should pay more income tax instead. (2/3)

* Donald Trump is a pedophile, a rapist, a con artist, a cult leader, and a mafia boss. * We have one planet. Destroying it in service of oligarchs is a bad idea. * We're in an economic bubble that dwarfs the dot-com bubble. The sooner it collapses, the better. * Truth still matters. (3/3)

Random AI reality check: * It's not alive. No matter how realistic your conversations with it feel, no one's actually home. * It doesn't remember those conversations. Every time you chat with it, your chat client loads up your entire conversation history and feeds it into the model. (1/4)

* It has no knowledge. Seriously, none. What it has is the capability to perform a probabilistic assessment of what word is most likely to come next. * It is mathematically impossible to stamp out "hallucinations." They will always be present. (3/4)

* It's not really AI. It's a vector database filled with tokens. There is no concept of the world or any semantic content within it. * It's not healthy to use it. If you can't go a day without it, you might be addicted. Stop using LLMs. They are not your friends.

* It doesn't learn. The reason a new session with the chatbot feels like it's forgotten everything you taught it is that the underlying model didn't change. * It doesn't think. No, not even the misnamed "thinking" models, which are just a fancy way for the model to re-prompt itself. (2/4)

(1/6) I've been kicking a thought around for a while: Being wealthy enough to be financially independent seems nice. Being wealthy enough that you control a measurable chunk of the economy must be hellish. Let me explain...

(5/6) Take a moment to ponder what that gaping hole inside them must feel like. A hole so vast that all the money in the world isn't enough to fill it. They must always have more. They must be absolutely terrified of everything *all the time*. Non-stop.

(6/6) I don't say that to invite pity for them. They are psychopathic monsters. They don't need pity, they need to be defeated. It would actually be good for them, psychologically, to lose their billions and have to live in reality with the rest of us. No... No pity. But I wouldn't want to be one.

(3/6) That would be enough. I wouldn't need or want more. It would supplement my income from a job I enjoy doing, give me complete peace of mind about my future and that of my kids, and leave me with discretionary funds I could use for things like occasional travel. That sounds nice, right?

(4/6) What doesn't sound nice is being hungry for more, and more, and more, always and non-stop. Think about what it must be like to be someone like Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk. Setting aside the fact that both are despicable monsters, can you imagine feeling like billions of dollars isn't enough?

(2/6) Say I had $5 million in liquid assets. I could put that money into something that earns 5% interest annually. Then at the beginning of the year I could take last year's interest ($250K), put it in my checking account, and live comfortably off it. I'd still work, but I wouldn't *have* to.

Read a post today saying that eventually, software developer employers will include AI tokens in their bonuses. If that happens, I'm throwing all my electronics in the trash and heading to the hills to live as a hermit, where I'll watch civilization self-immolate from a safe distance.

SpaceX has their (completely disconnected from financial reality) IPO on June 12th. If you have a 401k, you might want to reallocate it away from any index fund that will be forced to carry their stock. It's all a scam to make the American people carry the debt of a fucking billionaire.

[tinfoil hat] The AI companies buying up all the GPUs and RAM aren't doing it because they actually need them, or at least not just for that reason. They also want to make personal computing impossible. They want you dependent on dumb terminals that only exist to serve AI slop. [/tinfoil hat]
