NEW: The GOP are urging Senate Republicans to eliminate the filibuster to pave the way for the MEGA Act — a bill that could disenfranchise millions by imposing strict photo ID requirements to vote. But history shows that killing the procedure could actually bode well eventually for Democrats.

democracydocket.comWill Republicans kill the filibuster to pass Trump’s voter suppression bill?Trump can rail against Senators who vote ‘no’ on a bill, but he can’t threaten to primary them when there is no vote on a bill.

History is clear: restricting access to the ballot doesn’t protect democracy — it weakens it. Voters deserve fair rules that expand participation, not partisan shortcuts.

There is no Day After for Republicans. They know it. And they will do anything and everything to delete voter rolls, steal ballots, and declare elections invalid. Those rolling their eyes - watch this space! They are desperate and lawless. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Im puzzled, what is wrong with voter id? In Ireland we have that and it is well accepted and works fine. Mind you we also have sufficient number of voting stations and staff to allow all who wish to vote do so within minutes..

Republicans can’t be trusted. Mandatory IDs are just another hurdle they’re putting up to stop people from voting. They’ll limit what kind of IDs are acceptable (gun club yes, student no), make them hard to acquire (close down DMVs), and challenge them as fake. They’re cheating scumbags.

ID is to register and put you on the rolls. Then recognizance is normally all that is needed unless your neighbor working the polls has never met you. They play this to people who don't vote in the first place for them to magnify.
