Does Brian Aldiss's _The Eighty-Minute Hour_ have a character who starts out about ten years old but gets stuck in a distant time for a while and is fully grown by the time she rejoins the main cast in the book's present? If not TEMH, then which book (by which author) am I half-remembering?

That entire subplot stuck in my mind because (as I recall it) it's uncomfortably rapey, but now I wonder if my memory is playing tricks on me. I've spent about an hour trying to find a summary of the novel, but the ones I found (Goodreads and the like) are too brief and vague.

That is the plot of an episode of ST:DS9, but it gets undone by the end by time shenanigans. Did the book you're remembering have a lot of singing? :) @jdnicoll.bsky.social What are some books that have that particular plot point? *Almost* like Tunnel in the Sky, but with time travel.

I don't recall any singing. I do recall that it was post-apocalyptic with accidental time travel and generally weird and not a particularly satisfying read. I'm fairly certain it _was_ TEMH but I'd like to get confirmation from someone who actually remembers or (even better) has a copy.
