God every bloody Ai disclosure on steam is always like "UwU we just used a little plagiarism machine, we're a small team, AND ITS OUR BIRTHDAY, that means its ok" And like actually stfu, solo devs and small teams have been making banger games for DECADES. Literal skill issue.

like, i suck at code! i get it! yet i plod on; i see it as a puzzle, figuring out how to do an effect using what's in my skill set (and maybe learning a bit if i have to). it's like computing MacGyver, to me. my code is a gum wrapper twisted around two wires that somehow still starts the truck.

Its like these are TRAINABLE skills you can get good at them, you just have to have the passion and drive to do it. Anyone can be good at art or coding, and building and using those skills is a sign of the love and care for what you make.

"But we can't compete without using AI" Yes you can. The games market was already flooded to the point players were swarmed with garbage. This didn't change with aigen. You'll still have to do something to differentiate yourself. I'd advise not choosing "we're embracing slop" as your differenciator.

LMAO Like really though, what do people think place holders even fucking are anymore. They're supposed to be blatantly obvious reminders of things to do later, its always just an excuse to fallback on when they get caught.

I wouldn't even attribute to laziness, but rather a lack of care for what they're actually making. From the artistic view point ai is the death of the passion of what makes art, if you outsource the creative process, you outsource the feelings and desires the art deserves.

Team Cherry is a team consisting of 3 people. They created some of the best Metroidvanias ever made with zero AI. Anyone who says they need it because their a small team is a piss baby and can eat my ass. AI is a slop machine and should be shunned.

Ok this post is blowing up a bit so obligatory plug time. I know for a fact a bunch of you are queer and love TTRPGs so feel free to check out my channel dedicated to reviewing and talking about TTRPGs with 0 AI INVOLVEMENT. www.youtube.com/@DevalDeets

youtube.comDeval in the DetailsWelcome to Deval in the Details, a channel dedicated to TTRPGs. Here I make videos reviewing and talking about various systems, and make tutorials on how to play em.

I'm not sure any modern games let me: 1) harvest the bones of everyone who dares attack my fort 2) polish, encrust with jewels, and mount the attractive bones over the gate; and, 3) sharpen and load the ugly bones into water cannon that turns elephants to ground chuck

I've been gaming for 30 yrs. I'll play games that last 2hr, I'll play movie tie-ins, I'll even play the same reskinned COD mp for the billionth time, but I will not play a game with AI. Fuck AI. Fuck the data centers. And fuck the people who support them.

There's a disabled YouTuber I watch who said in a video not long ago that she gets upset about the anti-AI discourse, because she uses it every day to help her manage daily life. Yeah, that's great. If that was the ONLY thing it was used for it wouldn't be such a problem.

Like LLMs aren't a new technology and have been used safely in the past before Tech bros decided its "The future" a classic example is in the sciences, they would use it to help find patterns amongst whale sounds to help start decoding language.

A dlc I've been looking forward to for a while is gonna use AI voices for certain localizations and I feel conflicted about it. On one hand, it's very minor and something I won't have to engage with, but it still makes me feel a little icky

Lol, I had the exact same thoughts! Funny with how they word those stupid AI disclosures can give the exact same feeling of disgusting “innocence” bsky.app/profile/sawr...

Every AI generated content disclosure on Steam is like "oh, we only used a widdle bit of AI, we touched it up afterwards! We threw a glance towards the results, honest~!" and the game is 99% AI I just wish I could auto-filter these games out, ugh.
