The core differentiating factor of Bluesky as a microblog is the default feed, and the value of the collective labor going into this potentially transformative affordance is dying on the vine

But I also think the feeds I’m building are valuable and would be well-received if they weren’t dependent on word of mouth or seeing it randomly in explore or search

I spend a *lot* of time listening to and being in community with feed builders - these are the exact people that generate the "cognitive surplus" that has directly caused the internet to be as valuable as it is both socially and economically. They are pouring in this labor without a reward function

Not to say a reward function is *good*, they are all problematic, but they are building value with no way to experiment with it or convert it into its most useful form. And because of that, they get burned out, and because of that, the platforms big exciting difference gets nerfed.

There are a *ton* of ways to make this work more visible and rewarding, and the *effects* of making that work more visible and rewarding would almost certainly be to the website's benefit. The experiments to test this thesis are minimal. I'd love to see more motion here and don't get the lack of it.

This 100%. The feed experience hasn't really improved in the app in over three years (i.e., since they launched in 2023). It would be soooo much nicer for feed maintainers & builders if feeds were treated more importantly by the app.

I still can't believe that "suggested feeds you might like" isn't a thing πŸ˜… It is easier than *ever* to work out what types of thing someone is interested in - hell, they have that data already because of the recommended follows - please do it for feeds too!
