I've been talking about decentralized and federated systems since at least 2008. Now we're making finally progress on adoption

I think Bluesky's cultural problems kinda highlight its limitations; most people like the "defaults" provided by centralization, and complain instead of migrating when there's a conflict between their preferences and whatever service provider they are using.

We need to convince people that decentralization is worth the effort, it's not going to be as simple as downloading an app and creating an account. I don't know if we'll be able to do that.
