Thanks for your note - the link is included in the piece, it was one of a few that weren't copied back over when we put it into the CMS and added the DocumentCloud embeds to the story and I fixed earlier this AM. @sollenbergerrc.bsky.social is a good friend and I assure you he knows what's up.

Stephen broke the MSM dam on an important story and he’s a class act, I’m proud of him, thankful for his reporting — which has new information in it — and don’t need any attaboys. That says, it’s also cool and important to recognize (as he did) who gets stories first, and I appreciate your instinct

Listen man if a 70 year old U.S. Senator can properly credit an independent journalist there’s simply no excuse for other reporters not to. Shameful behavior from @npr.org here

If your goal is to give your readers full context, you put credit much higher in the piece with a link for reference. This is also a free and easy way to show respect to journalists whose work you (evidently) rely on. Burying this mention deep in the report without a link accomplishes neither.

This. When I was writing for newspapers 20 years ago, I would have put “the [publication] has learned” in the lede and credited whoever broke the story in the second graf.
