Alright, I reckon that's enough for now - I'll be back to this thread over the weekend to add more, of course, but I do need some time to actually PLAY these games. Also repeating, if all this helps and you're got too much cash, every tip I recieve on Ko-Fi or PayPal goes straight on indie games!
Post
A few more sales recommendations - this one ain't indie, but I loved it. Popucom is a *co-op only* puzzle shooter from the developers of Arknights. No mobile or gacha stuff here, just very smart level design. Like a bouncier, more aradey version of It Takes Two, with a bit of Splatoon & Puzz-Loop?
Gave it a shout-out outside this thread, but Rhell is an AMAZING puzzler/immersive sim with more than a little Adventure Time spirit. You're a sassy wizard, solving problems by whatever means you think up. You have 40+ spell components which can alter items, the world. Like Scribblenauts but deeper
Onirism recently left early access, but it's still growing and adding more sidequests, online multiplayer, etc. ABSURDLY overstuffed, overambitious FPS/platformer hybrid (lots of Serious Sam) about a gamer child hopping between mini open worlds inspired by classic shooters, from Blood to Bioshock.
Chorus is going super cheap. Gorgeous light space combat game (like Star Fox's all-range stuff) with a little bit of open world'yness. Overwrought writing but great dogfighting especially once you get your powers, like teleporting directly behind whoever you're targeting. Nothing personnel, kid.
Now bulked out with a couple free expansions and with a sequel in the works, Rusted Moss is one of the most creative metroidvanias around. Your main tools are a bungee-grapple and using the recoil from your weapons to add momentum It is enormously skill-based and sequence-breakable. Go galaxy-brain
If you can stand some jank from big ambition, The Axis Unseen is a fantasy bow-hunting game from an ex-Bethesda dev. Kinda like the Skyrim stealth archer experience expanded into a full game, with no UI (just glowy runes on your bow) and a folk horror theme. Wicker Men and weird forest nasties await
Best price yet on Reverse Collapse, a huge, smart, tough-as-nails squad tactics game set in the same universe as the Girls Frontline gacha games, but a standalone story. No rolling SSS Waifus here, just very demanding missions, a small cast, a dark plot and a growing pool of mechanics to juggle.
Ever wonder why we never got any modern Mystical Ninja/Goemon games? Because the director moved to another studio and didn't bring the license. Bakeru is a new Mystical Ninja game in all but name, steam-powered mech boss battles and all. And a surprising number of trivia quizzes. Deeply charming.
Shooty Shooty Robot Invasion is one of the dumbest (positive) games you can play. Equal parts lightweight FPS and interactive webcomic. You play as Shooty, a lesbian disaster who's supposed to be fighting off an evil robot invasion but spends a lot of time hanging around with her chaotic friends.
Also can't do one of these threads without a shout-out for Jet Lancer, another of my all-time indie faves. It's like Luftrausers with a story, and cool mech bosses, and Macross style itano circus missile swarms, and an amazing math rock soundtrack. Big NG+ mode, roguelike arcade mode and more.
A relatively small discount but there's no game like Million Depth. A time-looping tactical pause-time roguelike where you fight using customizable block-built drones. Hard to describe but GREAT The demo is shareware-style - the full first third of the game and saves carry to the full game. Try it!
Pausing on the recs for now (still LOTS of sale to go) with Zexion, made by and for Metroid sickos. A tough, tense NES-looking exploration platformer with some Contra-inspired free-aiming combat, some Mega Man-esque stage gimmicks, and a real sense that you are exploring a truly hostile planet.
From Z to A, the sales recommendations resume with Angel At Dusk. A horny, violent biopunk nightmare shmup. Somehow a breakout hit for Akiragoya. It looks ultra-hardcore, but is shockingly accessible and beyond Arcade it has a massive roguelite story mode with some high-concept sci-fi storytelling.
Smallish discount, but after this sale White Knuckle will be going up in price because it's closing in on the end of Early Access. Fantastic, highly replayable sci-fi horror climbing game set in a nightmare megastructure. You're being pursued by a giant fleshy entity so you WILL be panicking 24/7.
Bug Fables is Paper Mario with bugs. It is also a VERY GOOD Paper Mario game. Funny, cute, smart. Just a cozy hug of an RPG. It recently got a huge community made 'Plus' upgrade mod which tunes up the balance and adds a ton of sidequests and optional adventures, filling it out further. Recommended.
Speaking of games with must-have mods, Battlezone: Combat Commander is a great remaster of classic hovertank shooter/RTS hybrid Batttlezone 2. One INCREDIBLY dedicated modder has also completely remade Battlezone 1 in its engine, and made a tune-up of BZ2's campaign. Start on Easy then dial it up.
Great God Grove is an incredibly good point-and-click adventure without pointing and clicking. Instead, you solve problems by taking the words out of people's mouths and repeating them to others with your magic megaphone. Also a beautifully weird world where you play as a deity-wrangling 'godpoke'.
A good deal (now with the previously console-exclusive DLC) on Project Wingman, one of my all-time indie faves. A full-ass Ace Combat game made by a tiny team (one core dev outside of music and voicework) and it NAILS it. Dramatic dogfighting, a roguelike bonus mode and even VR support. It's peak.
Huge discount on Crosscode. A MASSIVE Zelda/Terranigma-like action RPG set in a far future telepresence MMO, giving it all a bit of a Phantasy Star Online vibe. Great combat and beefy puzzle-heavy dungeons. And it all runs in HTML5 Its spiritual successor, Alabaster Dawn, just entered early access.
Mars First Logistics might be the ultimate evolution of Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. A surprisingly deep and challenging game about creating remote-control machines out of LEGO to complete delivery and industrial jobs across the red planet. Some of the jobs require VERY creative/funny engineering.

Another 'elevated by the community' gem. Return To Castle Wolfenstein is a classic FPS for $2. The community beat Night Dive to the punch and gave us RealRTCW, a massive, pro-quality remaster/overhaul that recently added the console-exclusive Egypt chapter as well as tuned up some wonkier bits.
Still in Early Access but an ENORMOUS game already, Project Silverfish is a solo-dev STALKER-like set in a world where weird science and fae magic have warped the world, mankind is going extinct and cool lizard-people (you!) are the new meta. Runs incredibly well even on lower-spec hardware too.
Another bang-for-buck pick, Baldr Sky is a GIGANTIC cyberpunk hybrid visual novel/arcade mech combat game with one of the coolest UIs I've ever seen. The Steam version has some (easily restored) cut adult content but it's mostly 'What if?' official fanfic stuff that has no bearing on the main story
If you like spooky mystery rabbit-holes, pseudo-ARGs and haunted videogames, Shipwrecked 64 is good fun. Doesn't really feel much like an N64 game, but there's a lot of fun to be had pulling at increasingly cursed plot threads and piecing together the surreal mystery surrounding the (fake) game.
