There was software before Bill Atkinson, and there was software after Bill Atkinson. The fact that the latter is nothing like the former is in large part due to his genius. Apple, please consider renaming the Apple Design Awards after Bill. It would be a fitting and timely honor.

Tom gave me my first exposure to HyperCard, demonstrating a pre-release copy at Mac Hollywood. We didn’t know what the software did other than it had an icon of Bill’s face that beeped when clicked.
