Obviously I like immersive sims but also Dark Souls is an immersive sim and Spelunky is an immersive sim and Super Mario Bros. 3 is an immersive sim and Zelda II is a Dark Souls.

Thief 2 rather than the first?

Yeah. They're both great games, and they both have some less good missions, but I prefer Thief II's focus on stealth to Thief 1 (or Gold)'s somewhat looser mix of stealth and dungeon crawling.
