I love that Galaxy Express 999 was this wildly successful children's series and every planet they visit on their whimsical adventure is either "the horrors of extreme poverty" or "crushing loneliness that no words can describe." A+

I am reminded frequent of how "The Wind In The Door" spoke to me deeply as a child because I also felt like I lived in a world that was hostile and could collapse on me, on either the macro or micro scale, at any moment.

Today's episode: Tetsuro meets a friendly guy with a wooden cybernetic body, how whimsical! Oh, he's from a dying world that's nothing but dead leaves. Oh, Tetsuro has to watch him him burn alive and gets another speech on the folly of seeking immortality in an impermanent universe. I love this show
