When trans creators are subtle, people dismiss the trans subtext as “headcanon.” When trans creators are loud and proud, people call it “obnoxious” and “cringe.” They just don’t want us to be represented in media at all. Because they don’t want us to exist at all.

Rewatching the Bride of Deimos OVA and it's still perfect. Can I go back in time and somehow get Rintaro to make more than one installment? There are so many great stories from the manga that could have been adapted! The world needs more cunty demon boyfriends cursing every other person in town.

The manga is genuinely great, if you've never read it. Episodic horror stories featuring the titular Deimos, who oscillates between mild antagonist and sassy Crypt Keeper dishing out karmic justice.

Rest assured that whatever gay nonsense is going on with Vonnie and Elith cannot be described in simple tropes

No I never thought that. But I appreciate the reassurance that LeVolo is NOT Doomed Yuri. ^ ^

I don't have time for a spooky Halloween drawing this year but please enjoy this old goofy one

I don't remember what prompted me to draw Kim and Xiaoling dressed as Morrigan and Lilith from Darkstalkers, but I stand by it.

I realized I could use my own art as my lock screen which is fun, but also it gives me a quick way to provide a visual when I have to tell a person I'm a cartoonist and they're confused

Boys. Guys. Fellas. Come on over here for a sec, I got some advice: You don't gotta. You really don't. I know you think you gotta, but what you actually got is a backlog of business you should be minding.

Every creepy DM/reply I ever get is from someone with a bio that says "Father. Husband. Veteran. Christian. Firefighter. Cop. Troop. Dog. PROUD LIBERAL."

I don't know who needs to hear this, but putting your pronouns (he/him) in your profile doesn't actually give you permission to sexually harass a lesbian.

I love when Tim Higgins is on an episode of Best of the Worst because he's kind of there to remind you how a normal, well-adjusted person would mentally break down if they had to marathon three horrible movies.

Just a reminder that if we're prepared to put Art Spiegelman on the "No Coverage" list for using AI slop we can sure as hell put anyone on it. Zero tolerance means *zero* tolerance.

It's kind of bananas that Kill la Kill is my favorite anime but this tiny portrait from six years ago is the only fanart I've ever made of it.

Out with a Cuban solidarity protest and delighted to see so many drivers and passersby cheering my gay ass dancing around with a Cuban flag on a street corner 🇨🇺 💃

People rightfully dunk on the "special edition" Star Wars, but those are mostly trivial, if annoying, changes. It's nothing compared to, say, *digitally removing all the guns from E.T.* because George Lucas isn't psychotic like Steven Spielberg.

The fact that we as a culture think of George Lucas as the weird one is a testament to how effective Steven Spielberg is at building and maintaining his brand. That guy is a maniac!

Lucas: "My space adventure is directly inspired by the Viet Cong heroically defeating the American empire." Spielberg: "What if the evil billionaire from the dinosaur book is actually a nice guy who just wants everyone to have a fun time?"

Even before I fully understood what it meant for a show to be made in another country, I gravitated toward anime because people actually could die and actions had more consequences. It felt more authentic. Kids can and should handle more than you think!

I love that Galaxy Express 999 was this wildly successful children's series and every planet they visit on their whimsical adventure is either "the horrors of extreme poverty" or "crushing loneliness that no words can describe." A+

I've often wondered if the American censorship approach to violence for the past ~50 years gives us a warped relationship with stuff like violence. Because most the violence is often still there, but the physical effects are hidden. The connection between actions and consequences is absent.

And it's not just kids' media that does it. The PG-13 version is being able to depict countless people getting mowed down as long as we aren't shown blood, as long as the viewer doesn't have to be reminded that these are human beings. How is that not a thousand times more twisted???

I was suddenly reminded that this is my job. I pay all of my bills drawing lesbian abs.

I hope the internet appreciates how professional and composed I always am, because it takes a significant amount of non-renewable energy to keep me from going Ape Shit every day.

My most toxic trait is probably how I'll randomly bring up and defend the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime. Does it get extremely weird? Is the "worldbuilding" kind of bananas? Yes but these make it BETTER. Also Brotherhood wasn't brave enough to give us Ed teaming up with Fritz Lang to fight Nazis.

One of my top anime recommendations for spooky season is Phantom Quest Corp. (1994-95), a 4 episode OVA about a 30-something dirtbag woman who runs a paranormal detective agency! If you're into stuff like Slayers or Dirty Pair, it's a much-watch. I love it so

You should read Hellaween if you know what's good for ya! It's such a delightful pair of graphic novels about teen witches and creatures who very much act like teenagers. Great humor paired with an immaculate art style, you can't go wrong!

Mossforatu@dinolich.bsky.social

check out the other Hellaween goodies like phone wallpapers and extra comics while you're at it! AND OF COURSE— book links! because now's the best time of year to read a Halloween graphic novel 👁️ BOOK 1: bookshop.org/a/125486/978... 🔮 BOOK 2: bookshop.org/a/125486/978...

Reinterpretation on a shoestring: In the Aftermath: Angels Never Sleep (1988). Mamoru Oshii's Angel's Egg (1985) was a commercial failure, and became prime fodder for New World Pictures. NWP picked up the American distribution rights, cutting 'n' splicing it with post-apocalyptic live action.

I have never watched Pepper Anne but I have to assume it's about a lesbian teenager who pulls immaculate baddies.
