I remember when the iPad 2 launched there was an article on why you did not need to buy it. And one of the reasons was "You already have an iPad". As the author said, if you're the kind of person that is contemplating buying the latest version on launch week, you definitely have the previous one.

The Air doesn’t actually strike me as a phone for now in reality, more a “hey look what we can do proof of concept”. The reality is that they need much denser battery chemistry for it to become a realistic proposition for average people, because the battery life is going to be pretty bad
