I can't bear to read Nate Silver's newsletter, but I fear that his reason for the nosedive is that the WaPo isn't being Trumpy enough.

“Memeorandum News” is a politics focused news aggregator - so the chart is just the number of mentions by source in their aggregator. A loose proxy for what people are sharing and reading.

Memeorandum is like Techmeme, but for political and regular news. It’s an automated news aggregator that tracks which links are being posted and clicked on and highlights stuff based on activity (I believe it selects based on a curated list of news sources, blogs, journalists, etc.)

The dip occurred when Bezos overruled his editorial board endorsing Kamala just prior to the 2024 election. That’s when I cancelled my subscription, along with many others who expressed the same dismay. www.npr.org/2024/10/28/n...

By the omission, OP may have been trying to infer something nefarious. It was nefarious but self-inflicted when Bezos decided to bend the knee.
