This is already working in France. It provides energy, Saves agricultural fields, and protects the cars from sun damage. Win-Win-Win. The fields can also host windmills without impairing crop yields. That gives the farmers a cash crop of electricity to sell, in addition to their primary crops.

It's not an either or. Cost of construction & connections are two of the issues for siting of multiple panel structures. So funding needs to be fully accessible. Where practical, Agrivoltaics on farmland is preferable.

France has mandated solar panels on all new car parks over a certain size. Meanwhile the UK scrapped their plan for the same due to unrealized savings ... I think they lost the plot there in the UK.

So frustrating, knowing we could and should be the world's leader in innovation, technology, and all the rest. Greedy corporations like GE and Chevron, and their grip on politics, is why we aren't.

Farmers are making good money off of leasing their land. So much in fact it’s helping farmers from having to sell their land. Yeah, we can add solar to parking in addition to farmland. Any additional renewable energy we can create will help lower energy prices.
