They're paid well to avoid bringing it up. Doesn't fit the narrative of the wealthy and powerful who write the paychecks. We'll continue down this path untill all the forests are gone. Of course, there will be no-one around to see it happen.

From someone I know who worked as a CBC journalist. I couldn't Tweet that we both took part in the same environmental protest, it would be the kiss of death for their CBC career. The same for any journalist who wants to push the environment, climate change, and phasing out fossil fuels.

The Winnipeg Free Press has at least one column or article in every edition that mentions climate change. Lots of editorials on the subject as well. They have called out Carney's BS time and time again. That's real reporting.

CBC’s documentary and investigative work is generally very good. It’s the daily news for all outlets where the key context is lacking and that’s also where most people are getting their information. This is all explained in the Breach interview linked above.

I think much of it is more the audience. They get thousands & thousands of abusive comments from people with “I vote CBC” lawn signs when they reveal the destruction being wrought by the Carney government. Canadians are pretty conservative & unfortunately really buy into this pipeline bullshit.

This is entirely riding-dependent. LPC might look progressive if I’d never left Calgary, but is 3rd place in a lot of SK & MB & I don’t know anyone who would vote LPC in Toronto. Plus Lewis has such stronger values than Singh, I’d say there’s now a very clear alternative to the 2 right-wing parties.

Specifically human-caused climate change driven by the burning of fossil fuels, an industry governments are expanding across BC. It’s like reporting on a mass shooter without mentioning far-right extremism or 55,000 drug deaths without mentioning the unregulated supply.

I’m sick of the way CBC reports in the wildfires. Interviews his people who lost everything, and politicians who say we have to invest in more water, bombers and firefighters etc. while ignoring the underlying reason for these catastrophic fires. Next item: an update on the pipeline.

Irony or something? The proposed Carney/Smith pipeline: "The planned project corridor cuts across the central Interior, Okanagan, and Fraser Valley regions. These are the exact areas devastated by explosive out-of-control blazes, such as the Summerland, Peachland, and Bradley Creek wildfires."
