The PDS is the DB. You can use your Bluesky PDS to store the records, no need for a separate PDS.

Probably need to force a little switch in thinking here. I’d like to build data-types that extend the formats used by Bluesky. Create a post on #atproto that’s visible on bluesky and show some extra info on another platform? #developers

Is an extension possible, or should I create bluesky posts separately and refer to them from my own data models if I want to keep a reference. 🤔

I feel like I’m probably asking a dumb question here but I figured I might as well. 😅

While it’s possible to set up your own PDS, it’s not necessary. Bluesky’s default PDS supports storing custom records, and you can easily read from it. This is exactly how AzSky operates.
