Was just plotting my next Game Tastings in meetings today, and so this is a real shot in the arm.

As someone who was in the audience for this particular flight, it was an amazingly curated experience that delighted and educated and entertained simultaneously. Just wonderful and I felt like I should have been paying extra for an excursion on a TTRPG adventure cruise or something!

I also love (judging from @gshowitt.bsky.social latest newsletter) that Grant & I are parallel-developing workshops that try to get folks freed from the D&Dragon in their minds (Grant to make more weird game designers, & me to make more folks who want to play stuff by weird game designers)

I think (suspect, really) offering something different than simply "D&D-adjacent" would be advantageous. Not a small step but rather a bigger one. (i.e. The concept of roleplay is the same but this game does something D&D *does not*.) e.g. Vampire: The Masquerade in the '90s. Catch a zeitgeist.

I can never fully decide whether system or setting has the greatest draw away from D&D-esque (for those who do wish to explore beyond its realm). This Tuesday, I swing towards "setting". The whole 'd20' era was a particular time in the early 2000s. Great concept, reality - rather mixed I found.
