Disabilities don't start at 9:30 AM, and now disabled bus passes won't either. Huge credit to Lib Dem MP Tom Gordon and campaign groups like Transport for All. Their fight against unfair restrictions has led to nationwide change for fairer, accessible transport!

Disabled passengers who need to travel before 9:30am have always been waived on for free by bus drivers. They are never charged, the 9:30am limit was always to keep the busses clear for those who are commuting to work and dissuade those who are not in a rush to wait until after rush hour.

Nope. What you have to realise is bus companies are businesses. If you let someone on free of charge you are defrauding your employer. Drivers have lost their jobs for doing this. If you want to make things up based on a position of zero knowledge then that is up to you.

This should be extended to all those old enough to have a bus pass. Hospital appointments, child-care for grandchildren and volunteering in charity shops do NOT all start at 9-30 in the bloody morning.

Well done to Tom, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that Andy Burnham did this for Greater Manchester when he was the Mayor. It proves it can be done, and well done to all involved in supporting people with disabilities.
