Tips for writing out and about in Edinburgh: Yes, you will need a coat. No, it doesn't matter if the sun is out right now. Also, you will need a tote, because when you flee the weather, you will undoubtedly find yourself in one of the city's many bookshops. This is not a bad thing.

I mean, it depends a bit on your tolerance for being wet? But I'm in the "...you're still doing shorts and t shirt this late in the year?" camp for such things.
