The Tories appear to have crafted their new Britannia Shield announcement around "See it, Say it, Sorted". (Idiotic name. Idiotic idea. A system so toothless it will only be "minimally deployable" within one parliament. Our enemies may die of laughter.)

Note: the only thing worse than no missile defence shield is a pathetic one. Why? Because if you don't have one, you're incentivised not to antagonise your opponents to the point that they lob missiles at you. But if you have one, you think "come and have a go..."

I thought No 10 had something in place since to IRA bombing years ago; probably a shelter arrangement. The sums they seem to feel they have license to fritter away without any detailed and peer reviewed justification are enormous. I don't think we should allow this progressive largesse to continue.

But presumably since we're talking about the Tories, they'll have a VIP Lane where their mates who once flew a toy drone in their back garden can bid for a fat government contract.

You think it's a pathetic name? Just because it sounds like a detail in a 1980s post-apocalyptic British comic where Thatcherism directly led to fascism and the protagonist is based on Robert Aske? But he has a robot arm?
