Hi Ed! Perhaps I missed it in the piece, but which company would you say Nvidia most closely resembles? I don’t recall any definite statement on that line in the article. You cite Michael Burry a few times and i vaguely recall him saying that “they’re not Enron, they’re Cisco!” would you agree?

One small point - they were recognising loans to customers as assets correctly. Debt that you owe is a liability, debt you are owed is an asset.

This is a great piece (so far, still reading), some of your very best writing, but when you say debt's not an asset, "it's a liability", I am fairly certain that's wrong. When you're the lender, as Lucent was (Nvidia is), debt is indeed an asset (specifically, an account receivable).

Nvidia maybe does less loaning to its customers than it does *investing* in them, but that has a similar kind of effect. The customer's get cash, which they turn around and use to buy GPUs, and in the short term the stimulus expense vanishes into Nvidia's books as an asset (i.e., the shares).

When companies fund politicians who oversee their cases, what should Congress do? 1️⃣Ban donations while cases are active 2️⃣Allow donations but tighten disclosure rules 3️⃣Keep donations legal and separate from enforcement 4️⃣Focus on faster, clearer antitrust & export-control decisions instead Vote!👇🏻
