OpenAI Anthropic and xAI also all want to raise like $60bn each in the next year, which is way more appetite than people regularly have for IPOs. For some context the total proceeds of all US IPOs for 2025 was $47.4bn. 2021 had $155.8bn back during ZIRP season. Good luck with that folks!

What is the oil shock going to do for them? Besides making that capital even harder to raise, how much do you think the entire economy going in the shitter will speed up the collapse?

Remember when WeWork was going to go public and it was revealed that it cost them $2 to generate $1 revenue? That tanked their IPO. I'm guess the cost to generate every dollar is MUCH WORSE for all of these companies, with no clear path to break even, let alone profitability.

Keep in mind as well that OpenAI and Anthropic’s businesses will require constant infusions of capital. Altman is rushing his CFO! That S-1 is going to look and smell like the insides of a Tauntaun

The thing is, I'm not convinced that the vast majority of investors (or investment capital) reads S-1s anymore. Hell, they'll probably run it through ChatGPT and ask it "How much money should I invest? If the IPO fails, it won't be from a dogshit S1, it'll be because the capital simply isn't there
