Trump on DC: "Nobody wanted to eat out. They were afraid. Even if you were in the restaurant, people would walk in and like the Wild West, 'Hold it up!' Everybody is standing there. Can you imagine? A fancy restaurant. They were robbing the whole restaurant. It's crazy."

Sometimes, he slips up and unintentionally tells the truth.

Trump: "Can you imagine standing here 15 years ago and talking about the transgender mutilization? Everybody would say 'this politician is crazy'"

Random thought: How about we start up a superpac that exists solely to run negative ads about John Roberts, calling him a creep and pedophile and all sorts of calumny? So he can get a taste of what he unleashed on the system.

Supreme Court rules that offering money for votes is an "official act" in 5...4...3....

Trump: "If you elected a Republican House and Senate on November 3, you're gonna get $5,000. And if we lose, you get nothing. You're gonna get nothing! If we lose, you get nothing. Make it a lot easier vote."

You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.

Socialism in the American context is why so many of us were born into a middle class that mostly no longer exists and only existed from 1945 through around 2005. Our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents bought farms and homes, got college educations, and built businesses with the help of

I think in reality what socialism actually means in the American context is that trillionaire Elon Musk got $38 billion from the U.S. government and you got rejected trying to buy a $1 soda on SNAP benefits.

New Deal programs, which enabled their families to thrive through several successive generations. My grandparents bought their farm with the aid of a New Deal loan program. My father went to college on the GI bill. That gave him the earning ability to buy a home and send his children to college.

see 7 Senate seats flip. I've got NC, ME, OH, TX, AK, IA, and KS on my bingo card. And things are starting to look interesting in FL and SC, of all places, as well. Of course, we've yet to see what shenanigans Trump and the Republicans will attempt to hold on to power. But in terms of the votes 7/

in a BIG way. Oh, and OH too. That one's in the bag IMO. Think about that huge advantage - where Dems only need to win 20% of those who aren't basing their vote on support or opposition to Trump, while Republicans would have to win 4/5 of them. That ain't going to happen, not with diesel pushing 5/

$7, gas over $4 everywhere in the country, inflation rising, the job market softening, a war opposed by 2/3 of the electorate, millions priced out of healthcare, millions more priced out of housing ... folks, this is going to be a bloodbath. I'm going to make a bold prediction - I think we will 6/

poll and you find Trump support highly concentrated in rural areas, so you will still have districts where it's virtually impossible for a Dem to win even in a wave election. But think about the implications for the Senate. None of the states in play is as solidly red as say, Wyoming or Oklahoma. 3/

These states in play - NC, GA, MI, ME, IA, even KS, NE, and TX - are all more purple. Yes, the GOP has had a lock on Texas state govt and the national delegation for a generation, but there are big blue cities in Texas. In all of these states, this advantage the Dems have is likely to pay off 4/

What this means is only 20% of those who say Trump isn't a factor in how they're voting need to break Democratic for a win - while 80% of them would have to break Republican for a win. Which is very unlikely, other than in the reddest of red congressional districts. Of course this is a national 2/

You know who IS regulating AI? China. Because in China, the government regulates (dictates) everything about how businesses operate. Especially in sectors like technology.

As I was standing by this gas pump filling up my truck with six dollar gas I couldn’t help but think that this was a small price to pay so that every child wanting to play sports in elementary school has to submit to mandatory genital inspections

Earlier, I flippantly said that my first three thoughts on the morning of 9/11 were "Oh my god, those poor people!" then, "Holy shit, we have to deal with this with that idiot Bush in office," then "Goddamn it, we are going to be assaulted with that shitty Lee Greenwood song on repeat for MONTHS!"

and bad was going on, I would sleep on the couch, usually with the TV on until maybe I woke up in the early morning hours and turned it off before going back to sleep. I had to give up the couch-sleeping anxiety remedy after 2016, because my back couldn't take sleeping on the couch every night for

the next decade. Plus, I'm older now; my back is more prone to complaint if I don't sleep in a proper bed. But I remember those weeks on the couch after 9/11. Eventually I concluded we were being fed a diet of fear theater, that a lot of what we were being told were lies. And went back to my bed.

All of that is true - those literally WERE my thoughts as I watched the towers collapse. But it's also true that for several weeks afterward, I slept on the couch every night. Sleeping on the couch is what I would do when really stressed. I did it after Hurrican Katrina, too. Any time something big
