Today's newsletter is the AI Hater's Manifesto - where generative AI fails technically, economically, and morally. From its ever-changing products and rate limits to its ever-increasing demands for trillions of dollars, LLMs exhaust everything they touch. www.wheresyoured.at/the-ai-hater...

People's frustration with tech (and the tech industry) is boiling over after years of rotting out the functionality and stability of software. Tech companies have never been richer, their products have never been worse, and customers have never been angrier. www.wheresyoured.at/the-ai-hater...

People assume I've never used AI, which just isn't true! I've just never found a single thing they've done that remotely justifies the environmental, economic and social demands that these vulgar companies have. There is nothing that could justify the cost. www.wheresyoured.at/the-ai-hater...

Society and the media are excited to see trillions invested in AI, but have altogether resisted seeing that money invested in workers or labor rights. You cannot compare LLMs to human beings without investing the same amounts in worker training and happiness. www.wheresyoured.at/the-ai-hater...

The line "Where is the grace for human error?" really hits home for me. If I made as many mistakes as LLMs I would be fired, but I'm also supposed to have infinite patience for LLMs because "it's just new tech"

Definitely one of your most entertaining pieces. It's been delightful watching your writing evolve over time; you've grown very comfortable with the subject and it shows

“And with all that said, the only real “use case” i’ve found for AI in my life have been three or four times where I’ve dumped a crash log into one of the tools and said “why broken” and got a result.” This used to work back when Google search was good. Cut paste error, get Stack Overflow solution.
