i am once again begging windows users to understand that linux nerds give you instructions in the form of terminal commands because "paste this in" is a million times faster than trying to lead you through the gui one button at a time, not because the gui doesn't exist

I always find it funny when Linux users bring up the power of the command line (which is significant) but then completely ignore all the advantages that Microsoft Excel has over LibreOffice or OpenOffice. 😉

i'd say there are certainly situations where e.g. Excel is required for what someone needs to do, but so much of the time users of proprietary software will be like "Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL battle station!" and it's brightening the image or something.
