If you listened through to the end of podcast, you will have heard us moan about the VAT charge added to the pledge amount before checkout when I tried to back #GridshockZeroEdition from @letsdamage.bsky.social I wrote to @gamefound.bsky.social (via Paul's campaign) and got a positive response

I pointed out that that books and (ebook)PDFs were Xero rated for VAT in the UK, not charged at 20%. To be honest I was expecting them to give me some guff about crowdfunding being a digital service and so charged at 20%, but to their credit they said that VAT rates should have been adjusted...

... for eligible products before the campaign started. "but no worries - our Finance team can take care of this after the campaign ends. We’ll then refresh the affected orders and recalculate the VAT. ... where the VAT rate changes, backers will see the... overpayment as a balance in their carts."

#RPGParty publishers were promised mentoring through creating their campaigns, and yet the onus was on @letsdamage.bsky.social to ASK @gamefound.bsky.social's finance team to adjust the VAT rates. Given that as mere US citizen, Paul knows fuck-all about VAT, he should not have had to ask...

Anyhow, the upshot of all this is: back gamefound.com/en/projects/.... It's great! And if you are in the UK, don't worry about the VAT charge - think of it as a downpayment on shipping. Elsewhere in the EU? There may be adjustments for you too, based on your local VAT regulations.
