Just received my forth inquiry from someone who received the scam email, which tells me there must be hundreds of recipients. And there’s nothing I can do about it on my end.

hey so… i’ve been receiving inquiries about a solicitation supposedly from me recruiting authors to pay several hundreds of dollars to be featured in “Portland LGBT+ Book Club.” it’s not me, and think it’s probably a scam. is this something other people are seeing as well? and what to do?

fifth and sixth inquiries this morning. this is starting to cause real distractions and possible harm to my reputation.

ok seventh now. apparently the scammer’s gmail address is now blocked so they found another email for (real) me and contact.

Now the number surpassed 10, and that’s just the folks who were interested in the “opportunity” excluding those who notified about scam. All this happening while I’m hospitalized for serious illness and don’t need any extra stress.

(and just to be clear I’m not so desperate that I need to scam authors. Fortunately I have 12 weeks of state paid medical leave, six weeks of additional sick and vacation pay, and a private health insurance from my work.)
