Mine was simpler... Get accepted to PhD program, DOGE cuts funding, PhD program dissolved. Still better than being grabbed off the street.

I hope you’re able to start your research soon, I’m angry on your behalf (in addition to the students being grabbed off the streets, obviously)!

Unfortunately not at this time. Kind of a long story, but this was one of the few programs in the area that would let me apply. Apparently I am too old to be accepted into other programs (specifically I was told it has been too long since college or medical school, 20 years.)
