I'm not trying to be "revolutionary" or "subversive" by being trans. I had gender dysphoria, and this is what fixed it. I wanted to be a girl as long as I remember. I'm way happier now that I can be. I'm not trying to make a political statement about gender by existing.

I get it, and I'm really happy for you! I'll add that a person need not make a political statement the point of their existence, but being able to exist is the point of many a political statement. That the existence and health of trans people is not yet assured is just an artifact of our times.

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

You aren't concerned about increasing your high score to have more trans points than others and thus be better than them???

Exactly the same. I mean, I am trying to be "revolutionary" and "subversive" by many other things I am doing, but my sex/gender is not one of them. Paradoxically, it is one of the few areas where I actually *want* to fit in - "being a woman" for me is a requirement for feeling meaningfully real.

Alternately put, I want and need to be a woman, but I also prefer strongly to be a woman who is not beholden to the expectations of patriarchy or restricted by culturally contingent notions of womanhood somehow implying various unrelated things about me. As a feminist, I oppose such implications.

When I began exploring this, I was surprised to realize from observation that I *wasn't* nonbinary, because from my political stances, that's what I naively had somewhat expected. Rather, all my various subversivities require me understanding myself as female in order to feel real and meaningful.

This, incidentally, "what the soft animal of my body loves" if you will, to me is the hallmark of something stemming from an instinctive, biological substrate, some inclination evolution put into most of us but which usually goes unnoticed since it doesn't trigger exceptions in cis people.

I'm not saying everyone has to be like me, and there are other ways I very much enjoy being subversive and unique and challenging the status quo This assumption that being trans *necessarily* about that just sucks, and medical transition is a lot to handle and navigate

The closer my body feels physically to a cute femme cis girl's, the happier I am. Few things can spark so much joy in me. This happened because I didn't think I'd ever see such a blatantly, unmistakably girly shape to my torso bsky.app/profile/ens0...

Got a little teary with gender euphoria brushing my teeth just… fuck My figure is so. goddamn. girly. More than I imagined was possible 3 months ago, even

The "shames anyone who doesn't do the same" is load-bearing here. Problem is that the people that describes are a small and shrinking minority and almost all of them don't *want* to be seen as revolutionary and subversive. That's the point!
