lol i'm sorry i don't mean to press this. i'm sure there's an internally-consistent rationale to it all, but who is in the 50s? 40s? 30s? 20s? Is somebody a 1 at MSFT? A 0? lol

Not sure. I think new grad hires start at Lvl 59 (≈ L3 at FB/Goog). Not sure how lower levels shake out. There's a lot of different types of jobs on campuses (security, cafeteria, custodial, etc) but I don't know if those code ranges.
