Scoped registries and streaming sanitizer have been the main bulk of work for my year, and itโ€™s a huge win to get them both shipped!

Perhaps a fantastically dumb idea given *everything* to do with software right now, but currently having a lot of fun writing a more "traditional" backend focused typescript framework focused on "vertical slices" ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Firefox has started doing this thing when you copy URLs from the address bar, it doesn't include `https://` and its *extremely* frustrating when pasting it into other places that expect `https://` to be present to auto-convert into a link -_-

Not a single word of this is hyperbolic in the slightest. Buy your friends in cybersecurity the drink or chocolate of their choice right now. We are not doing well

Jason Koebler@jasonkoebler.bsky.social

wrote about "Black October," the PHP vulnerability, and the AI-fueled dread and panic I'm seeing among almost all of the cybersecurity experts I've ever known. I think people w/ LLMs are brute forcing software the same way they brute forced social media w/ slop www.404media.co/php2shell-bl...

Holy shit. I don't know what the hell is going on on Claude's blog site, but i've never been more miserable trying to read an article. claude.dev/blog/solving... I usually read articles by using arrow keys and tapping the down arrow, but jfc. The most egregious is chrome when you hold the arrow.

me knowing iโ€™m not responsible for any php application right now

Maybe we can do like the TypeScript types running doom and make a TypeScript compiler from TypeScript types.

Philippe Serhal@philippeserhal.com

has anyone slop forked the typescript compiler in coffeescript yet? opportunities abound.

My first open source release: Tiny Tells! Six small status characters in one <tiny-tell> tag. They're animated like little cartoon characters, so a state change is a reaction, not an icon swap or a spinner. MIT licensed, 14 KB, no dependencies. tinytells.dev

I would give my worldly possessions away to work with Drew again on an engineering team. Hire him. Or tell a friend. And have them tell a friend he's on the market again.

Welp... Got laid off from Podia today. Kinda a lot to process for a Thursday. I'll have something more coherent to say eventually. For now, send Ruby/Rails leads. Or dog pictures.... Both are good.

Absolutely brutal hearing about your old team having more layoffs. I know at least 3 great engineers who are looking for work. Let me know if I can put you in touch with them. Worked with all of them for years.

Nobody in the stadium is happier than James Cook about that blocked field goal. Looks like he won't have to walk back to Buffalo

OpaqueRange should be on your radar

CodePen@codepen.io

"<rich-input> demo" by Bramus codepen.io/editor/bramu... Pretty impressive combination of new web tech to make this happen: <datalist>, the OpaqueRange API, and the CSS Custom Highlight API.
