If you hit a dog, it's animal abuse. If you hit your spouse, it's spousal abuse. If you hit an old person, it's elder abuse. If you hit your child, it's just called parenting. That needs to end Children are not property and have the right not to be beaten.

There are far more damaging behaviours of child abuse than short sharp physical punishment if all else fails. Not setting boundaries, screaming back at a child screaming at you, never interacting with your child and leaving them to get all their interactions online. All much more damaging long term.

So is releasing them into society without the ability or desire to integrate and contribute and expecting society to do what a responsible parent should have done. Most children respond to good parenting skills but some don’t . What then? Physical restraint or a feral child ruining riot

I was thinking more like a smack on the arm or back of the legs. But if you are the sort of parent that speaks to their children and has another successful way of making them adhere to boundaries you will not need physical punishment. There are far too many feral children that know no limits

I can assure you I know how to recognise a feral child. If you are struggling to understand the concept have a look at videos from Middlesbrough. The children stealing cars and ramming them into two police officers is the extreme end of the scale but they don’t get like that overnight.
