Agree 100% and unfortunately it’s going to be hard to get the target population to accept that fact because they really, really want to believe that what Vance is saying is true. The world you describe is what many of their core memories are quite literally built upon. Hope is a hell of a drug.

Also, I’m going to pick up your book! Looks very interesting! I grew up in the Rust Belt so I‘m looking forward to reading the book with my own life experience as background.
