also worth noting that these people don't actually know what their preferences are. this sort of thinking basically always belies a lack of understanding of the actual parts of what they consume. when they say "tailored to my preferences" they mean "i believe it won't annoy me"

maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me

or, maybe more accurately, "the sort of thing i would want to represent myself with - you know, the sort of thing i would like". which, again, reveals they don't have an actual understanding of the sorts of things they would like or why, cos they don't know how those things work.

this is all shooting fish in a barrel, anyway - these rubes pushing their fantasies of AI being an infinite get-rich-quick-scheme-executer are the kool aid drinkers, not the people building kool aid factories. but i'm not always above shooting fish in barrels. especially the smugly dumb ones.

Art is the expression of the artist. If I wanted to have something that expresses my ideas I would make it. I want to enjoy what others create. I do not understand the concept of removing artists from art. It’s hollow. An average of experiences with no particular intention.
