Was just at a surveillance studies conference where I was reminded that Starlink has cornered the market on low orbit satellites for humanitarian purposes, thereby profiting the man who dismantled USAID, who can then be framed thru extremely warped mental gymnastics as commercially "humanitarian."

To be fair literally no one sane is framing it that way.

Like I’m sure there’s a few freaks on Twitter who believe this but insofar as I’ve ever seen, and I track this stuff quite closely, no one is even really attempting to make that stick.

I agree w you & am not trying to insist (nor was the presenter) this is a common framing or maybe any framing at all. The concerning point is that he's making money off of suffering that he has caused/exacerbated, and that humanitarian agencies must begrudgingly engage with him for lack of options.
