Lot of people seem confused by the reported attempt to denaturalize Ilhan Omar because they assume it’s a criminal case, but it appears to be a civil denaturalization attempt, which is not a criminal investigation in the same way, has no statute of limitations, and has different standards

That said, this is still an extremely high evidentiary bar for the government to meet in federal court (not immigration court) and it seems to me almost impossible that they could actually pull it off given everything we know about her background and this case
