Latino Racism-Ethnicism (LRE) doesn't really exist in Australia like the USA for historical reasons. But a lot of the current justifications for racism in Australian politics and media echo the same ideology. Notable as we have seen a recent historical peak in immigrants from Latin America.

For me I love hearing Spanish spoken when I'm out and about. I love seeing young Latin Americans enjoying this country. It was hard always being "the only one" everywhere I went as a kid. But I am tired, so tired, of the resentment that hits each new wave of immigrants here.

I'm especially flabbergasted by the way folks who arrived here as young immigrants, or are the children of immigrants, grow into colonial anti-immigrant ideas as they get old. There's no explanation for the rise of ON without it. Or the "social cohesion" arguments. It's so sad and disappointing.
