Web developer lazyweb - HELLLLLPPP!!!! Picture if you will. You are at the website for wossnames dot com. You wish to buy a new wossname. You go through all the usual rigmarole of searching, adding to cart, signing in, filling out your shipping details, etc. The final step is payment. [1/5]

You wish to pay using PayPal (yes, I know, work with me here). You click a button marked "PayPal" and the process of payment begins: popups, passwords or passkeys, etc etc etc. Payment happens, shipment happens, wossname is delivered, everyone cheers. [2/5]

My question is: how does that button marked PayPal get created? How does it know to take your money and put it into the seller's PayPal account? How does it know the correct amount? How does it have a description of the exact wossnames you're buying so it can confirm the purchase? [3/5]

I'm building a payment gateway from scratch, for Reasons, and I have the credit card side of things working: create object, assign products, generate URL, redirect browser to URL". Lovely. I want the same thing with PayPal, but a week of googling and trying examples has given me nothing. [4/5]

IF YOU KNOW THE ANSWER, please let me know. If you at least know the correct terminology (is it an order, a payment, a transaction, a vault, or something else?) please give me some clues. If you figure you can ask ChatGPT and tell me what it says... please sit this one out. Anyone? [5/5]
