Folk 'n' Hell

The latest FolknHell podcast looks at The Blair Witch Project: great reputation, rather more modest film underneath. Three convincing performances, a lot of Maryland woodland, and a few images that still unsettle. Is it #folkhorror ? We say not really. folknhell.s.gy/bw

I disagree. With the rural setting, the pagan symbolism and possibility the witch may actually be real, it is classic folk horror. Most people don't like it because it doesn't have an 'in your face' monster, but that is the reason I really rate it.

I take your point but the folklore is wildly inconsistent within the film - no two people seem to have the same story. It's a film that purports to be folk horror, certainly.
