Cheap drone accessories from stores like Temu make it possible to turn a normal drone into a killing machine. Now anyone—from criminal syndicates to paramilitary groups, from disgruntled employees to ostracized teens—can mod their drones to do remote violence.

And with headlines like these… I’m no longer mad that the city banned drones years ago.

That's like making guns illegal. Someone who is willing to break the law to MURDER - will be willing to break the law with gun ownership. Anyone willing to use a drone as a makeshift BOMB would certainly be willing to break city laws banning the drone.

….I’m not even sure how to respond…. - Making guns illegal makes them more visible when they’re used so people have heightened awareness. Same with drones. - Drones were banned to just not be a nuisance. - there’s many of legal tools to commit illegal acts. - reducing presence reduces likelihood

I accept your premise that having them be illegal means that a weaponized drone could be more quickly identified as a threat - rather than one weaponized drone flying among 15 observational drones. That point is received and thank you. You are right - safER but not safe. PS. talk not insult pls

Yeah it was more “how do I say this without pointing out all the illegal things one could do” - sorry if it came off as insulting!
