When I first moved to London, my biggest fear was being caught up in a terrorist incident. Now it's being taken out by a 14 year old on a Lime bike doing 25mph through a red light while looking at TikTok.

This seriously just happened to my mum on Monday. Caught between one stopping suddenly and two behind her on their phones not braking in time. She's covered in scrapes, and down £200 as it buckled the back of her (pedal bike) wheel and frame, and she can't get to work without it.

Your poor Mum, I hope she is okay. My post was silly but it's a genuine fear. It's become the norm for cyclists not to stop at red lights in London and electric bikes are so heavy.

They really are - turns out Lime bikes in Japan are third party insured, that would go a long way here. I think she's a bit shaken (not the first knock, thankfully she does wear a helmet these days) but mainly fuming about the money. Glad I was about a few days to keep her company!
